Since we began providing full day care in ‘The Warehouse’ to children 3 and over in 2019, we have had a dedicated childcare “base room” upstairs – this is now our Turtles’ room.
Our ground floor has always been an open space, which while encouraging lots of freedom of space and movement has also presented its own challenges as we have become busier!
After we made plans for the use of our huge indoor space, towards the end of 2023 work began to build a dedicated base room downstairs.
The introduction of a dedicated separate space for our Dolphins group will allow the children and team to have their own areas and resources that they can take ownership of and add to or change up as suits them.
We added a suspended ceiling to this space to create a much homelier feel, and the room itself is divided into 2 areas to allow us to split the Dolphins into smaller groups for activities, restful periods, and mealtimes.
Dolphins and Turtles will be using their dedicated base rooms as part of their daily routine, with use of the play frame and garden included each day, and Starfish (our oldest group) will have the rein of the main floor with its separate ‘chill out’ room.
